Valentine's Day Ideas

Blasen's been gone this week and I had great intentions to blog more...but then reality sets in. I did, however, because of said absence, get to work on some projects. I'm working on roman shades for my neighbor and she probably thinks I'll never get them done. It makes me feel better that the weather here has been so gloomy that whenever there is sunshine you are welcoming all you can get and won't close any out. I know you're thinking "roman shades...please, those are so easy." And they are, I just get really paranoid when I do something for someone else. I want it to be perfect. AND windows in old houses are weird and not square. Do you know how difficult it is to make curtains when you can't just throw them up on the window in your house to see how they look? I'm sure she'll appreciate whatever I make. So I'm almost finished with those. Yeah.
I also decided to make some Valentine decorations. Not a holiday that I've decorated for in the past. I think the extent of my decorations were hand towels and placemats that my friend Jeni bought for me several years ago. Char on Crap I've Made gave me a few ideas and yes, I copied them almost exactly. I just didn't have the will power to experiment this week. I wanted a tried and true craft.

I used scrap material in my stash. The letters are painted on and thanks to my friend Christina for letting me use her Silhouette. (Those things are awesome!) You can find all the directions here.

I also made this from a plain canvas and some chipboard letters. I needed something for the wall and it's an inexpensive alternative. This will hang during February and I PLAN on changing it out with some other similar pieces that are learning related that can be more permanent. Again, this idea came from Crap I've Made.
