Fun in the Summer

We have been really busy over the last few weeks getting ready to leave for China. Blasen is totally redoing the boys' bathroom, I'm refinishing the front(original to our 1900 house), and the boys are just trying to have some fun. We went to my parent's house a couple of weekends ago for cousin Isaak's birthday and to give Dad some time to work on the bathroom in peace. Bliss loved the pool, a new addition to the Ford home. He loved it so much that despite my attempts to be a good mother and lather my pale child in sunscreen his arms were burned...badly. He jumped off the diving board, then went down the slide, then jumped off the diving board again. You get the picture. This lasted all day long. It was lots of fun to see him having such a good time. Later that night was not so much fun as his arms were hurting. But, what can I say, he just learned a lesson about pleasure and pain. Likely, the first of many. Oh, he also jumped in the pool without any kind of floating device because he was mad at me. He sank right to the bottom...of the shallow end, with just the top of his head barely reaching the surface. Dear old Mom to the rescue and saved his life. I think he actually enjoyed it.
Back home, we have no pool. So, since I am the mother of multi-tasking, I've come up with fun and functionality. The boys can play in the sprinkler and the lawn is watered at the same time.
